Public service broadcaster WDR’s 1LIVE radio station has been hosting Germany’s most popular radio awards since 2000 – all live, with star performances, and an audience of thousands. Since 2014, POOLgroup has been closely involved with the show as a technical partner.

The centerpiece of the 1LIVE Krone awards is the stage show with numerous live acts that have to resonate as powerfully on TV as they do in the venue. This calls for meticulously planned lighting, reliable technology, and seamless coordination across all trades – so the atmosphere and energy are maintained at all times, even when requirements change.

Our team planned and managed lighting, rigging and stage automation, audio and media technology, as well as event infrastructure and set construction. In close cooperation with the editorial and production teams, we developed creative concepts for the award presentations, live performances, and after-show parties. Running orders and effects were carefully prepared, programmed, and precisely implemented on site.

Thanks to the technology and crew, the blend of live music, stage show, and TV broadcast came together flawlessly. Pinpoint lighting design, immersive effects, and rock-solid infrastructure gave the show its characteristic look – and delivered true party vibes in the venue and on screen.

The close collaboration between the POOLcrew, WDR, and our partners has established the 1LIVE Krone awards a highlight in the German music and entertainment calendar. Thanks to its technical precision and creative implementation, the show remains an event that will be remembered – on stage and on TV.
