Ververica established Apache Flink® and host international Flink Forward events. The 2024 Berlin conference brought the worldwide community together over four days for training, keynote addresses, and networking while also celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Apache Flink®.

The aim was to celebrate the anniversary, promote knowledge transfer, showcase technological innovation, and strengthen the global developer community – thereby strengthening Ververica’s role as a driving force for innovation in streaming technologies.

The event took place in the Schöneberg Gasometer, a protected landmark on the  EUREF campus – a challenging location that required complex technical planning and sustainable infrastructure. In addition, running parallel training and conference sessions, supporting more than 65 speakers from international tech firms, and the strict CI requirements for staging and branding was particularly demanding.

Liaising with Ververica, the POOLcrew developed an integrated event style and assumed responsibility for complete implementation: From lighting, audio and media technology to LED walls, stage design and streaming equipment as well as accreditation, delegate management, event logistics, and backstage coordination.
They also took care of custom branding, trade fair space for sponsors, lounge areas, the event app, speaker and content management as well as additional events such as the Flink Fest anniversary, which was held in an exclusive club. Thanks to the close collaboration with Ververica and the EUREF team, the event was executed with exacting technical accuracy in a historic industrial monument and fully adhered to strict CI requirements.

Over 450 delegates and more than 65 speakers from corporations such as Apple, Uber, and Mercedes-Benz enjoyed a high-powered conference that combined learning, exchange, and networking. Gamification features, such as the tailor-made Tetris game sporting the client’s corporate design, added a playful twist, while the gasometer’s rooftop terrace delivered an unforgettable ambiance.

Flink Forward Berlin 2024 set new standards in technical event design and learning culture in a streaming environment. The consistently positive feedback – from “unique experience” to “the highest concentration of experts” – strengthened Ververica’s position at the heart of the global Flink community.

The collaboration with Ververica was typified by mutual trust and professional recognition – from concept to the final bill. The result: Immediately receiving the contract for the next event, Flink Forward 2025 in Barcelona.
