The open day organised by the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and State Modernisation was not intended merely to provide information. The aim was to showcase the work of this new ministry in such a way that visitors could immediately understand what it stands for: a simpler, more digital and more efficient state.

POOLgroup supported the BMDS in this endeavour as a conceptual and strategic partner, as well as a planner and implementer. Drawing on political objectives, eight groundbreaking projects and complex specialist topics, they created an immersive visitor experience that made the content accessible and encouraged active participation.

The POOLgroup developed a unique communication and experiential framework. The starting point was specific everyday experiences such as complicated forms, long processing times, unclear lines of responsibility and a lack of digital connectivity.

This gave rise to the overarching narrative:
Consistently untangle. Efficiently connect. Get off to a confident start.

These three themes structured the content, the visitor journey and the entire production. In addition, the POOLgroup developed the key visual, the CI/CD-compliant event branding, the conceptual interior design, as well as the content, design and functional logic of the app, including all the games.

Three interactive zones brought the BMDS’s working methods to life through spatial, tactile and digital experiences. Visitors were able to unravel connections for themselves, link systems and make decisions.
The app guided visitors through the stations, combining interactive games with a start-up mindset check and the ‘Minister’s Moment’. This highlighted the opportunities, conflicting objectives and consequences of decisions relating to digital administration, AI, infrastructure and the reduction of red tape.

The spatial highlight was the 360-degree projection in the six-storey atrium. The specially developed content was mapped onto the architecture. Results from the app and the game stations were fed live into the projection, making the guests’ participation visible.

The POOLgroup transformed the concept into a technically robust, integrated system. This included project and schedule planning, specialist planning, interface coordination, IT integration, infrastructure, logistics, set and exhibition stand construction, as well as operational event technology.

On site, the POOLcrew took charge of overall technical management, operational coordination and the implementation of the media, lighting, sound, rigging and network solutions. The unique architecture of the atrium – with its glass roof, high ceilings and challenging acoustics – was specifically incorporated into the production.

The exhibition not only made state modernisation understandable, but also brought it to life. Abstract themes were transformed into an accessible, interactive and visually striking immersive experience.
The visualisations from the concept phase were precisely translated into the physical space. In this way, the POOLgroup demonstrated its strength in seamlessly integrating strategy, content, design and technical implementation. This successful collaboration also laid the foundations for further joint projects.
