In 2017 the G20 summit took place in Hamburg, and thus for the first time in Germany. The heads of state and heads of government of the world's 20 economically strongest countries as well as representatives of host countries and the most important international organizations met with their staff for two-day consultations. A total of around 6,000 participants came to the Hanseatic city.
As general planner, POOLgroup was responsible for the basic concept (idea development), the use of space for the entire Hamburg exhibition center and the architectural redesign of the halls. These should be converted into appropriate conference buildings and halls with state-of-the-art technology. The International Media Center, which offered approximately 8,000 media representatives from all over the world perfect working conditions at all times, was built on a large part of the area. Completely different priorities had to be set when preparing the Elbphilharmonie. Here POOLgroup created the appropriate setting for a festive dinner of the heads of state and government in the small concert hall.
The event rooms designed and equipped by POOL were characterized by a pleasant, communication-friendly atmosphere. High-quality and reliable technology ensured that conferences and meetings at this important summit could take place calmly and with a focus on the content.
At the G20 summit in Hamburg, the POOLgroup managed to master numerous demanding tasks under unusually high deadlines. Accordingly, the work of our team was expressly praised on all sides.
